Bringing traditional Chilean superfoods to Western consumers
The Challenge
Isla Natura is a family-run business that wild harvests the superfruit maqui berry with the local Mapuche tribe in Chile. Their unique product was poised for export growth in the US, Canada and Australia, but they needed to translate their local and traditional brand for the modern, health-conscious consumer. Our challenge was to transform their identity to succeed in the Western health food market without losing their traditional story.
The Process
To showcase the brand’s provenance and unearth some of Chile’s intriguing culture and history, we created a detailed, tribal mythology-inspired illustration asset.
We balanced this with a fresh, clean colour palette to give clear health-food cues and communicate the macqui berry ingredients. The result is a brand that stands out against more clinical competitors, whilst remaining recognisable as a superfood supplement.

Since their rebrand in 2016, Isla Natura have expanded to over 100 outlets across 3 continents.
